Press Release: NEW features for the TDcH

TRIAX headends: NEW features for the compact headend TDcH

Future-proof and flexible solution with multiple upgrade options

Hornsyld, Denmark, 20 October 2022 — The TDcH compact headend is now easily upgraded to support IP-In and SNMP monitoring via a new software licence (2.4.0). The software update also activates LED status displays at the inputs and outputs. The new version is available immediately and can be installed on all current and previous models.

The TRIAX compact headend was successfully launched 2 years ago. A highly future-proof platform, it offers great flexibility, with a range of features that can be individually upgraded (via software licences) to meet changing requirements. As experts in headend technology, TRIAX customers can be assured each and every TRIAX headend guarantees the same quality TRIAX experience.

“With the latest IP-In function, IPTV signals can now also be fed in and distributed via coaxial or ethernet networks. A typical application in the hospitality environment is the integration of IPTV services, which can be offered to guests as a programme expansion. In-house programmes with local offers can also be realised in this way and simply fed into the headend.”
– Diemar Rauch, Group Product Manager

The optional SNMP (Single Network Management Protocol) monitoring activates the function in the compact head- end and sends status changes via SNMP traps to SNMP-supporting monitoring software. This enables continuous monitoring, status queries and signalling even via remote networks.

The TDcH has been built on TRIAX advanced Next Generation Headend Platform which offers the full range of signal modulation options from satellite, terrestrial, cable, and now includes IP signals into QAM, COFDM or IP. For subscription TV projects a version with 8 CI slots is also available.

With its compact design, the TDcH can be installed in any 19” rack or wall mounted. Each headend is tested according to strict specifications and is delivered to the customer ready for configuration. Each TRIAX headend system can be set up and monitored via the browser-based management tool. To help deliver the best customer experience, TRIAX skilled team of support engineers are available to provide outstanding service for any installation requests. Regular updates and enhancements are planned for the flexible platform on-going.

Guest information system for any TV – In Touch 6.1

TRIAX In Touch 6.1 Update

Now you can deliver in-room services, information and promotion to hotel guests on TVs of any kind, with the latest update to the TRIAX In Touch interactive communication platform.

Benefits include:

  • Minimise outlay: full guest information system now for any TV
  • Upsell more: introduce flexible per-room TV packages
  • Satisfy guests: meet demand for casting and connectivity
  • Freedom and flexibility: place Digital Signs anywhere with new WiFi connectivity

Implementing a guest information system is often challenged by a high investment need, as it requires dedicated hospitality TV sets in all rooms.

With the In Touch 6.1 update and the new TRIAX TV Player, you can install a professional guest information system on TVs of almost any make and model, making the most of your existing equipment and eliminating any need to invest in hospitality TVs.

The TV Player is a compact die-cast box that can be securely mounted behind most TVs, tucked away tamper-free and out of sight. It’s controlled by the included RF-based universal remote, enabling access to all the apps and functionalities of the In Touch platform and the TV itself.

New functionalities for the In Touch TV solution

The In Touch guest room TV solution has been expanded adding three new apps: TV Guide App, TV Pack App and HDMI source select App.

TV Guide App expands the existing now & next feature with a programme guide (EPG) for the next 48 hours.

TV Pack App enables up to 4 different TV channel packages which can be up-sold and added to individual rooms by front desk staff upon request, or potentially used in other commercial communication to differentiate between room offerings.

Finally, the popular HDMI Source Select App has been upgraded to be fully customizable. With the new software it is now possible to assign up to 2 different HDMI sources per installation, giving guests the option to connect their own device directly to the TV, or for example enabling access to a casting solution for guests to cast their own content to the TV.

Explore the opportunities with the TRIAX In Touch guest communication platform

Connect your Digital Signage via WiFi

Launched together with the new software is a new Digital Signage Player (DS Player), which includes WiFi, 2 HDMI outputs, and is 4K compliant.

With WiFi you now have the full freedom to place your digital signage screen wherever you prefer, without having to worry about available ethernet outlets.

With the dual parallel HDMI output, you can connect two screens to the same DS Player and save both installation hardware cost and time when updating your messages. This is a big benefit in areas where you have back-to-back screens showing the same content, and is frequently used in train stations, airports, and other public areas where the flow of people can come from several directions.

With 4K being implemented in more and more screens the new DS Player has also been upgraded to be 4K compliant, supporting 4K graphics giving you the flexibility to use screens with both new and older technologies.

The new DS Player is available in two versions — with or without PoE. If your digital signage is placed where an ethernet cable is available and your switch supports PoE, the DS player with PoE can be powered via the ethernet cable, reducing the need for additional power outlets.

EoC update - Licence Key Activation and Private Network Zones

New features for TRIAX EoC

  • Licence key activation and private network zones added via software update

TRIAX EoC software 2.7 adds further professional networking features and increases the flexibility of our Ethernet over Coax platform.

It’s available now for all TRIAX EoC controllers.

Partners and customers can download the new software by logging in to My TRIAX on your local TRIAX website, then navigating to an EoC controller in the Products area.

Licence Key Activation

This software update makes it possible for selected EoC features to be enabled for a one-off licence fee.

As our EoC platform continues to expand with more and more features, not all of them will be of use to all customers.

That’s why we’re introducing this highly flexible, cost-effective means to manage precisely the features you need, on top of our competitively priced base system.

Private Network Zones

This update makes it possible to quickly and easily create individual SSIDs across your EoC WiFi network.

You now have the flexibility to create private, secure networks for each individual apartment or hotel room, irrespective of the number of WiFi end points on the network.

Configuration time is significantly reduced: it takes just half a day to set up 100 private network zones.

Private Network Zones is the first feature to be offered through our EoC licencing programme. To activate this feature or for more information, contact your local TRIAX representative.

EoC update – QoS and Bandwidth Management

New features for TRIAX EoC

Quality of Service and bandwidth management added via software update

Today we’re introducing TRIAX EoC software 2.6.1.r145, available for all TRIAX EoC controllers.

With QoS and extended bandwidth management functionality, the update adds even more professional networking features to our Ethernet over Coax solution, benefitting administrators and end users alike.

Partners and customers can download the new software by logging in My TRIAX on your local TRIAX website, then navigating to an EoC controller in the Products area.

Quality of Service (QoS)

Certain online activities are more dependent on a good, stable internet connection and high throughput in order to ensure a good user experience.

An example is Voice over IP (VoIP), where data needs to be transmitted in real-time with no delays.

By implementing QoS, VoIP – or associated applications like Zoom or Microsoft Teams – is treated as priority data, ensuring the best possible experience for end users given the overall bandwidth available.

Software 2.6.1.r145 introduces QoS traffic priority based on DSCP for all EoC devices.

Bandwidth management

TRIAX EoC already offers Dynamic Bandwidth Management (DBM), which automatically allocates the best available bandwidth to any given user depending on their usage requirements.

It allows the full capacity of your internet connection to be distributed most fairly, without compromising a minimum throughput at each end point and with no further administration required on your part.

Software 2.6.1.r145 now adds the possibility to manage bandwidth in the ‘classic’ sense – i.e. by specifying a maximum bandwidth capacity at each end point or end point group.

In some installations like hotels, this might be used as an opportunity for upselling extra throughput if the guest requires it.

How to update & further questions

We have made a general step-by-step guide on how to upgrade the EoC Software:

Introducing the TRIAX Network Analyser

Free software for successful EoC projects and increased customer satisfaction

TRIAX Ethernet over Coax (EoC) is now even easier with the new TRIAX Network Analyser software, available as a complimentary download from today.

  • Optimal IP over coax: increase project success and customer satisfaction
  • Perform detailed pre-qualification and documentation of the coax network
  • No more surprises: address potential disturbances, identify need for filters before installation
  • Free software download from TRIAX

The details

An EoC Controller*, EoC Endpoint, a laptop and the TRIAX Network Analyser are all you need on-site to carry out either a full network analysis or strategic tests at selected points.

The tool displays any signal disturbances and the data capacity at a specific endpoint location.

Since EoC operates in the frequency range from 0-200 MHz, one of challenges could be that some TV services are positioned in this range.

TRIAX Network Analyser reveals this with disturbances in the given frequency range.

These are indicated with the blue line in this example screenshot, the spikes being analogue signals and the flatter peaks digital services.

Detailed documentation with data and screenshots can be produced, for future troubleshooting use or for peace of mind when handing a project over to your customer.
